Shark Attack

I recently borrowed this vintage shirt from my fashionista friend, Jane Robertson (check out her Lookbook.nu account). The super cool print served as the inspiration for this outfit. I love how the pattern coordinates with the bleached-out jeans.
I decided to wear this "Shark Attack" headband to unify the color scheme.
I bought this Frida Kahlo bag on a trip to Mexico in middle school, and it's still one of my favorites. Gotta love Frida!
I also recently painted my nails, and I decided to try polka dots. A friend and I used a Sally Hansen nail pen to paint the dots.

Dress-Up Box

I posted a sneak peak for this photo series a while back, but these are the finished, edited photos. I shot them with a Nikon D5100 and my tripod. This sparkly pink wig from my friend Abby Schultz inspired the vibes for these photos... I aimed for something princess-y, glittery, nostalgic, and magical. I love how the wig is messy and frizzy, knotted and tangled from years of wear. It conjures early memories of playing in the dress-up box: throwing on too-big hand-me-down clothes, adorning myself with old jewels, and covering my hair with itchy, fabulous wigs. This self-portrait series is predominantly inspired by childhood experiences.
I experimented with interesting lighting in some of these photos; I used colored bulbs and a string of battery-operated holiday lights. After I uploaded the digital images, I used some silly filters and colored overlays to further develop the mood I was trying to achieve.
The textile in the background was designed and printed at my RISD Pre-college program this past summer.

Sparkle, Sparkle

As I mentioned in my last post, I've been making a lot of floral accessories lately! This headband is for sale on Etsy, as well as this corsage!
I also recently bedazzled my phone case... pretty exciting!
I found this purse at Goodwill a few weeks ago. I attached a faux fur tassel from Urban Outfitters to make it a little funkier.

New Photography + Floral Accessories

Lately I've been taking photographs and making floral accessories. Here is an Instagram (@zoe_schlacter) picture from a self-portrait series I shot the other day. I accessorized myself with my newly acquired pink sparkly wig and some newly created floral accessories, and I hung my Cacti + Googly Eyes textile print in the background. I will be posting the final shots from this series soon! Also, I just listed this headband on Etsy.

Abby Schultz Photography

This past weekend I had the opportunity to meet and take photographs with Abby Schultz. I've been following her photography for a while now, and we finally had the opportunity to get together! Abby is very talented, and she's pursuing photography at the Savannah College of Art and Design next year. We styled this shoot together, using Abby's wigs and my clothing & accessories. I took some shots of Abby, and Abby took some shots of me, as well as some shots of both of us. All of the photos in this post were taken and edited by Abby! I love how her images turned out! Incredible! Be sure to check out her Flickr photostream and "like" her on Facebook.
I made this six-fingered claw this past summer at a pre-college program at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Pink + Red

This top is a hand-me-down Custo Barcelona tee shirt. I love the bright color combination and the unusual texture of the front panel. It's a fun piece to wear. I'm also really loving the Nashville weather these past few days. The temperature has been in the high 60's (fahrenheit) in the afternoon. It's nice to have a break from jackets and tights!
I paired the top with a tulle skirt from Forever 21.
This lipstick color is one of my new favorites. It's a super-dark, shimmery green from Lime Crime. Also, I've been really into stick-on earrings recently. I bought a sheet of them at Claire's Accessories last weekend.
This is one of my most recent headband creations. It should be listed on my Etsy Shop soon!

Fantasy World

I took these photos recently with my Nikon D5100 and tripod. I used one of my screen-printed textiles as the background.

Kimono Jacket

This kimono-inspired jacket was recently given to me by a friend. It's second-hand, and I think it's so cool. The colors in the print are particularly nice. I layered it over a polka dot button-down from the Gap.
Giant Vintage recently sent these sunglasses to me, and I love them so much! Polka dots are so much fun to wear.
I've been working on some new flower creations recently. I made this corsage with some colored googly eyes a friend of mine gave to me recently. I'm probably going to keep this corsage for my own uses, but I'm making plenty of others that I will be posting on Etsy. On the other hand, this headband is going to be for sale in the next day or so! You can follow me on Instagram @zoe_schlacter for more regular updates on my Etsy listings!
Check out the googlies on the headband!

Birds of a Feather

This is what I wore to an art show reception on Saturday for the Scholastic Art Awards. I currently have a photograph on display at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee. If you're in the Nashville area, you should definitely check out the exhibit! The show includes work from some really talented student artists.
Also, I got my hair cut.
My dress is thrifted from Goodwill. I'm really into the silhouette... it has a nice, vintage shape. It's also pretty versatile; the accessorizing options are endless.

I belted the dress with a belt my mom recently purchased from Anthropologie. I'm pretty obsessed with it... it seems to take any outfit to a whole new level.
These earrings are a current favorite of mine.. who knew Walmart had such cool jewelry?! I've also been really into forehead jewels and more colorful eye-makeup recently.
Dress, vintage from Goodwill. Belt, Anthropologie. Earrings, Walmart. Motorcycle Jacket, Jafrum.

I've meaning to share this on my blog for a while, but Kathryn Wilkins recently did an illustration of me! I love it! She's incredibly talented and does some really awesome work. Check her out!

First-Ever Film Project

I really enjoyed making this, and I hope to do more film work in the future! I'll be posting the still photos from this shoot soon! I took the footage and stills by myself with my Nikon D5100 and a tripod. I designed and screen-printed all the textiles, in addition to creating the flower head-gear. The dress was made by my fashion-designer friend, Raphi Tayvah, using one of my prints. The music is a collaboration between me and my rockin' dad, Chuck Schlacter.

I took these photos the other day with my digital camera and my tripod. I found this super-cool shirt at Goodwill the other day. It brings back some childhood memories; I'm pretty sure nearly every girl in my age group had a bubble shirt like this at some point in elementary school. It's a little bit tacky, but I think the texture is really cool. It looks awesome when layered over dresses or when paired with a printed vintage skirt.
I always manage to look extra angsty whenever I take photos with my camera's self-timer. I'm not sure why.
