Neon Stripes

I found this skirt at the Goodwill a few weeks ago. It lacked a label or brand identification, and it had out-of-balance proportions. The waist and hips were absolutely huge, but the hips fit. Since then, I had it taken in at my favorite alterations shop, and now, it's my new favorite skirt! It's going to need some experimenting to get the styling just right.

Worn with my brooch-adorned blazer (originally from Goodwill), a neon green top from Target, Dolce Vita lace-up pumps, a Forever 21 necklace, and flowers from Forever 21 and h&m

School's out for the summer.

I usually wear these bleached jeans cuffed neatly three times, but recently I had a crazy idea to wear them un-cuffed. And I love it! I've had a phobia of any pant lacking a skinny leg for the longest time, and it's nice to get out of that rut! I feel super 70's in this outfit, and summery. Speaking of which, school's out for the summer... wahhoooo!

I'm wearing a whole lotta jewelry with this outfit... The long gold bead necklace, big pink star-ish ring, and the big black bracelet are all from Forever 21. The small white ring on my other index finger is a ring I made out of a mother-of-pearl bead. Everything else is vintage-- from my mom's closet, antique stores, flea markets, etc.

The big yellow flower was a gift, originally from Anthropologie. It was meant to inspire me to expand my wardrobe and wear crazy stuff. And it did! I no longer wear just one boring, white flower, I'd rather wear three-- in bright colors! The daisy is from the craft store, and the medium white flower is from Forever 21.

Also wearing the vintage polka dot blouse I wear practically every day of my life (a Goodwill find), my Sam Edelman "Zoe" booties, and vintage glasses I borrowed from my dad.

Hillsboro Village

These photos were taken in Hillsboro Village- one of the coolest places in Nashville. There are so many adorable shops and delicious restaurants. Also, there are many brightly colored walls and murals that make perfect blog photo backdrops
On Friday, I picked up a bagful of summer paint-clothes at Goodwill. I managed to snag a few awesome vintage pieces as well. I found these dapper high-waisted trousers and this wonderful yellow dot blouse!

do what you want.

I love these prints together! Also, neon socks are my new obsession. Actually, these socks are way brighter in person... the brightest fluorescent orange color I've ever seen.
This title is kind of a reference the wonderfully crazy prints in this outfit, but also kind of a reference to the OK Go song.

Bleach Out

Way back in the eighth grade, my mom gave me this brilliant idea to bleach a pair of corduroys that I never wore. I dumped cups of bleach upon them, and I was quite satisfied with the results. However, I was so terrified of wearing them to school... What would people say about me?... Would people look at me funny?... What if they think I'm a freak?
After much deliberation, I took my mother's advice once again, and I wore them to school with a white v-neck, a black blazer, and black patent oxfords. It was slightly terrifying at first, but by the end of the day, I was totally rocking them. As it turns out, all of my eighth grade classmates thought my bleached out pants were pretty darn cool.
Now, it's no big deal to wear bleached out pants. As a matter of fact, I might as well throw on a polka dot blouse! Why not! But without my mother's advice, I might still be stuck in that horrible, eighth grade fashion rut. Speaking of which, happy mother's day!

Glitz n' Glam

I love the super tacky, but yet so awesome qualities of this dress... the sheer cutouts... shoulder padding... and of course the excessive beading!

Dress, Laurence Kazar (from Goodwill). Tights, from a random boutique in Baltimore. Shoes, Nine West. Bag, Mulberry for Target. Headband, The Frist Museum gift store.
