Altered Vintage In Action

This is what I wore to school today and also out to dinner this evening. My skirt is a piece of vintage clothing that I remade. I got it at Goodwill some time ago, and I shortened it and made the tie belt out of the leftover fabric.

This Is My Sushi Eating Outfit...

This is what I wore out to eat sushi this evening. I was going to post what I wore to school today, but I had quite the incident in art class today, involving a giant blob of paint somehow finding it's way onto the front of my favorite shirt. I think I scrubbed most of the paint out, but it still managed to ruin my enthusiasm for the outfit. Bummer. When I was taking pictures, I found this really cool traffic reflector thing. I thought it could be neat to take a picture looking into it. It's kind of dark though, because I had to turn off the flash for the picture to turn out.

Vintage Blazer Daydreams

This is what I wore to school today. I bought this oversize navy blazer ages ago at my local Goodwill, with the hopes of altering it. According to it's tags, I think it was probably part of a uniform- like a flight attendant's outfit or something. I was thinking maybe sewing some interesting-patterned mens' ties down the sides, and maybe shortening it. But alas, after many months I forgot the blazer. That is, until yesterday, when it suddenly came to me in a daydream. And now, I love it, and I can't wait to wear it again.

Just a Lazy Sunday

This is what I wore out to lunch today. I wanted to wear something casual and comfortable, so I threw on this oversize vintage button-down and some jeans. And I topped it off with some bright red lipstick.

Not Your Average Grecian Sandal

Took some pictures today after running some errands. I got my haircut yesterday into a short, chic bob. I really love it, and I can't wait to see what else I can do with it! I also have on some shoes that I have been wearing a lot recently. I bought them over winter break when I found them at an off-season discount. I have been waiting to wear them for months and now I can, seeing as how spring has finally sprung. I love the trendy gladiator shape, but I feel like they are more unique and interesting than your average grecian sandal. I paired them with a floaty dress yesterday, and then this girly Forever 21 frock today.

Favorite Looks of the Week

What I love about them...
Teen Vogue: leopard print/neon pink combination, with the sparkly Erin Featherson mask, over-the-top layering of bangles and baubles
playingwithfire on Chictopia.com: the contrast between the retro shape of the skirt and the ikat print, varying textures, socks and booties, and what appears to be a metallic trench
FashionistaPlayground on Chictopia.com: of course, the high-waisted pleated shorts, the effortlessly chic feel of the oversized buttondown, the socks and booties
Dominika at Fashion my Darling blog: the vintage Moschino jacket, super cute haircut, and the fabulous chain-fringe shoulder-bag
Raych on Chictopia.com: head-to-black, polka dots, metallic belt (very J. Crew-esque), and adore the asymmetrical black pumps
This is a Polyvore set that I created today. I love the vintage shape of the striped dress, paired with the nautical, eclectic pieces; like the jewelry and the blazer. And who couldn't love those shoes?! Too fabulous for words.

Swing into Spring

This is what I wore to school today. I received this dress in the mail several months ago from a close friend in China. It was wrapped up in the strangest little cylindrical package. Ever since I opened it, I've really loved the print and the traditional Chinese shape, but I have never really known how to wear it. That is, up until I saw this Teen Vogue picture of a similar dress adorned with funky, cutting-edge accessories.
This is the Teen Vogue photograph that I got the idea from. It was featured in a spread called "Global Citizens". The whole idea of the shoot was the international culture aspect of many Spring/Summer 2010 collections, but as always, it has a touch of Teen Vogue flair.

Tiny Tweed Hats

This is what I wore to school today. I got this Velvet Underground tee shirt for Christmas and haven't worn it too much. But lately, I have been really into wearing oversized band tee shirts with skinnies and a funky jackets. I adored wearing this outfit today, especially with the tiny hat. I also really love the contrast between the band tee and the feminine qualities of the jacket. I also love the the attitude of the gloves- I feel like Rihanna!

Where the Wild Kitties Are

This is what I wore to school today. I thought it to be apropos to pose with my ferocious little kitty-kat while wearing this jacket. I also have on my "Where the Wild Things Are" tee, which makes it even more of a coincidence.
Coat, Forever 21. Jeans, Guess. Shoes, Payless. Tee Shirt, Urban Outfitters. Necklace, Vintage. Ring, Michael's. Bag, Marc by Marc Jacobs. Flower, For Love 21.

I know it's kind of old, but I haven't been able to get this song out of my head today. I often change around my playlists according to the attitude of the outfit.

And I know my images are just a bit too large... sorry. I just have a few settings to change around and I'll get the hang of it.

Feeling the Fuchsia

All of the magazines are reporting that fuchsia lips are big for spring. I am very excited for this trend. I love the look of bright lipstick. I really wish more people would wear colored lipstick. It's such a unique look, and universally flattering. Two of my favorite pictures of this trend are this Marc by Marc Jacobs runway photo from this recent Who What Wear newsletter and this photo from Natalie Off Duty. I love this post of her's with the all black outfit and then the bright pop of color on her face. The pink hue makes her look instantly chic and fabulous. She has on MAC's Girl About Town, but I also really love MAC's Show Orchid. I will most definitely be wearing lots of fuchsia lipstick this coming spring.

Mad As A Hatter

Ever since I saw a magazine advertisement for the O.P.I./ Alice in Wonderland collaboration, I have been excited for the release of the overly sparkly, "Mad As A Hatter". There is such a buzz among my peers over this extremely sparkly polish, but there are few bottles to be found. It seems to be sold out in just about every cosmetics or beauty supply store in my general vicinity. There are actually a few rotating bottles among girls I know. They get it from a friend and give their nails a few coats in geography class, before passing it on to the next girl in line. And boy, oh boy, do I have news or what? I took advantage of my extra free time today to paint my nails. I used some new Wet N Wild nail polish from the pharmacy called "Glitz". It bears a striking resemblance to the suddenly famous O.P.I. hue at a fraction of the price, I must add.
