Borrow From the Boys

This is what I wore this morning to go run some errands. The shoes are probably the most exciting part of this outfit, so I'll put a close up picture of them below. One point of interest... the shirt is from the men's department. So, no other girls will be wearing it! I also really like the fit and the v-neck is just the right depth. So why not borrow from the boys?!

Jeans- American Eagle
Shirt- BDG @ Urban Outfitters (from the men's department)
Socks- Target
Shoes- Aldo @ Marti and Liz Shoes
Bag- Betsey Johnson @ T.J. Maxx
Bracelet- Belk
Long Necklace- Marc by Marc Jacobs @ T.J. Maxx
Short Necklace- Forever 21

P.S: Anyone know how to put a YouTube video in a post???

My New Favorite Shirt

The other day I cleaned out my closet, and you would not believe all the glorious things that were living in there. I found several Custo Barcelona t-shirts, which are famous for using mismatched patterns and materials and interesting designs. This one started out as one of my least favorites, until I saw the back. The design has an abstracted design of a man's face and it says "Viva Las Vegas" on the side, but you can't see it all that well in this picture. Then I had the brilliant idea to wear it backwards! The front is red and pink and shiny, and the sleeves are neon green and orange- both of which I don't really care for. So, I threw on my favorite blazer and black chiffon skirt. This is what I wore to work this morning and then shopping this afternoon.

Shirt- Custo Barcelona, from my Aunt
Skirt- Old Navy
Blazer- New York and Company
Gray Tights- Hue from T.J. Maxx
Shoes- Payless
Bracelet- Forever 21
Bag- Target

These pictures are from my fall break trip to St. Louis. I went so St. Louis Fashion week, which was extremely cool! So, I thought I would share these pictures with everyone. It featured up-and-coming designers, such as Laura Kathleen, Micheal Shead, Penny Rae Vintage, Reign by Paul Gibson, Exquisite Corpse, and Trashbiscuit. Here are some pictures of my favorite looks and a picture of my mom and me. Sorry that they're are a little bit blurry- models walk really fast.
Here are some more Photoshop edits...

Apples to Apples

This is what I wore this evening when some friends came over to play Apples to Apples and eat Italian food. Pretty simple... but I thought I would still post it. I got to use my new Diana F+ camera- very exciting!

Shirt- Rodarte for Target
Jeans- Guess
Necklace- Vintage
Bracelet- Forever 21
Shoes- Keds
Camera- B&H photo

Lately, I have been browsing through the Spring/Summer 2010 collections. Here are some of my favorite looks from Moschino, Moschino Cheap & Chic, and Luella. I love the girly, 1960s-inspired prints and shapes. Check out the daisy-shaped sun hat on the far left, and the polka-dot, high waisted pants!

Shopping my Mom's Closet

This is the outfit that I wore out to lunch this afternoon to eat Chinese food. My mom wore this sequined top to a costume party as a flapper in the 80s, and I saw it in her closet a few months ago. It's short, so I always wear a white tshirt under it. I also like the contrast between the toughness of the motorcycle jacket and the softness and girliness of the sequined top. Heres a picture of the whole outfit together...

Top- Vintage
Tshirt- Target
Jeans- Guess Jeans
Shoes- Payless
Bag- Charlotte Russe
Bracelet- Forever 21

The difference between the softness and the toughness in this outfit reminds me of one of my favorite looks from Valentino 2010 Spring/Summer RTW...

Contrasting Colors and Patterns

This is the outfit that I wore today. I got to use my new bag that I got for Christmas! Handbags in bright colors are a great way to spruce up your wardrobe, and this color just so happens to be one of my favorites! I also like the contrast between the two complementary colors- just one of the many connections between fashion and art.
Trench Coat- Zara
Shirt- Rodarte for Target
Jeans- American Eagle
Shoes- Nine West @ T.J. Maxx
Bag- Marc by Marc Jacobs
Bracelet- Forever 21
I love how visually pleasing the red/orange hue of the handbag is against the graphic navy and white stripes. Contrasting colors and patterns like these are widely used in many designers' Spring/Summer collections, especially at Proenza Schouler and DKNY...

*Runway images from* Another one of my favorite newly discovered Photoshop tools- a lense flare effect.

Fashion is Really Another Art Form

This is a picture that I took last night when I was putting together outfits in my closet. The silhouette of this outfit was originally inspired by Agyness Deyn- oversize tshirt and skinny jeans. The style also reminds me of House of Holland. Henry Holland, the label's designer is a close friend of Agyness Deyn. But it was this tiny hat and the pose that really set off the whole Agyness thing.

Shirt- Gift (from Nashville Clothing Company)
Jeans- Guess
Shoes- Forever 21
Necklace- handmade by my lovely mother
Hat- Forever 21
I believe that fashion is an art form, and these photos below are the perfect mesh of photography, art, and fashion. One thing that I have been doing a lot of lately is editing my photographs in Photoshop. I enjoy making my photos look like they were taken with an old-fashioned format or camera, and sometimes I like to go crazy and totally rearrange the different hues. It's really interesting to see what comes out of it, because the new color schemes I create often present themselves as inspiration for a new painting, sketch, or outfit. Quite Andy Warhol-esque, don't you think???

Merry Christmas

Hey everyone. Merry Christmas!!!! Sorry... I don't have any new outfit photos to post today. It's Christmas, and I've decided to stay in my sock monkey nightgown all day long. I have new items to use in my outfits though!- such as a new Marc by Marc Jacobs handbag (yay!!), an Andy Warhol banana t-shirt, and an oversize red clutch that one of my best friends gave to me. I also received a 2010 Spring/Summer Collection Book, so I will soon be posting some of my favorite runway looks and inspirations. I hope your Christmas was as wonderful as mine!!!

Lots of Love,

Latest Goodwill Find

First, a big thank you to my first two followers- pretty good considering that my blog is less than a week old. So let's keep it up- tell your friends and spread the word!!! I found this fabulous vintage handbag on my last trip to Goodwill (the same one where I found the 1234 sweater). It's an authentic Ferragamo!!! I know it's tacky to tell how much something cost, but it was $7.00!!!- probably one of the best things that I've found at Goodwill. And no one else I know will have the same bag- just one of the many benefits of shopping vintage/2hand.
